ConserWater is a water conservation platform using satellite data and artificial intelligence to help farmers reduce water wastage and distribute their water resources adequately and efficiently across different types of crops. The start-up ConserWater was founded in 2016 by Aadith Moorthy as he ended his research in AI and optimizing the hydrogen adsorption capabilities of functionalized graphene for efficient hydrogen storage.

In India, approximately 2/3 of all fresh water is used for farming, in the United States farm water usage represents around 1/3 of fresh water. ConserWater aims to tackle the global issue of water overuse by farmers which it associated to the lack of monitoring capabilities by poorer farmers. The start-up has made its platform available to all small farmers of India which represents around 60% of farmers in the country according to the project. ConserWater application enables every farmer to get accurate predictions of exactly how much water he needs to give his crops on any given day at any location in India. ConserWater App can increase the water efficiency of any farm up to 30%. Using public data provided by NASA satellites ConserWater uses historical weather data along with geospatial deep learning to predict water needs to the level of ground soil moisture sensors. The app was also recently launched in the US.

By reducing the amount of wasted water in farming and allowing less equipped farmers to have free access to an accurate irrigation monitoring system, ConserWater contributes to the SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and Communities), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
